A downloadable game for Windows

This game was created in a weekend for Ludum Dare 47 (http://ldjam.com).

Drive and Crash with Cold Hard Cash

You're a simple person - find a bank, rob it, and get the heck outta dodge. Take to the streets in a get-away car with a bag of cold hard cash. Louie, your best friend and wheeldog takes the helm as you try to evade the Fuzz and escape with your ill-gotten gains. Watch out, though, Louie likes to stick his head out the left-side window, and turns the wheel to match!

About the Development

Like most game jams, we left content on the floor (most notably all of our audio!), but we're very happy with what we accomplished in 3 days. We're a husband-wife dev team, and had to wrangle kids alongside game jam this weekend, but it all worked out. Physics-based driving mechanics, aggressive AI, fun arcade mechanics, and a clean low-poly look make this one of my favorite jam games so far.

Update: We've released a post-ludum-dare build that adds audio and a slew of improvements. Check it out!

The comic on the sidebar was a quick storyboard for an opening sequence we cut early on. We wanted a comic book feel and a kooky reason for the car to turn left, and the idea of a serial bank robber with his dog driving the getaway car seemed like a great fit. We wanted to have Louie the dog's head sticking out of the driver's window, but that, too, got cut to save schedule. On the plus side, the driving experience and dodging the AI cops came together nicely, and we managed to sneak some of the flavor from the intro sequence into a couple places in-game.

All-in-all, a great experience. We encourage you to check out the game, and give us your thoughts (great or irate) - feedback makes us better at making games.
